On April 2, 2019, I called Dr. Warren Hern’s late-term abortion clinic in Colorado. The receptionist would not answer whether there was a cut-off on how far along they see patients, so to be on the safe side I told her I was 26 weeks and 1 day. With scheduling and travel that would put me somewhere in the 27th or 28th week at the time of my appointment.
She said “it’s based on the fetal measurements and if it’s safe to see you, so it’s on a case by case basis, but we have seen women around the world that amount of weeks pregnant.” She explained that it would be a 4 day procedure consisting of assisted labor and delivery.
On April 29, 2019, I attempted to call back and get the receptionist to tell me the maximum fetal measurements they will accept. However, she would not disclose that information, so I decided to make some up and call back. I looked up the average fetal measurements for a 30 week fetus and called back with those numbers. I told her the measurements were taken three days ago. She said she could put me on the schedule for the following day, at which time I would be about 31 weeks.
Not once did she ask me for a reason for the abortion. And I told her there were no fetal indications. So it is entirely possible to schedule a third trimester, 7+ month abortion on a healthy baby for absolutely no reason, despite what the pro-choice movement insists could never happen.
